But the island has a very rich history from the first landing of the Greeks to the sacking of the Odoacer dominion, the Normans, the Swabians who took over in 1214 and the Anjou and Aragons. Ischia is divided into 6 towns, Ischia, Casamicciola, Lacco Ameno, Forio, Serrara Fontana and Barano and covers an area of 47 sq. Km.
